Alastair Dorward
CEO, Own Products and Founding CEO, Method Home Products
Over the last 15 years, Alastair Dorward has built a successful career as a fast-moving consumer goods entrepreneur. All of his ventures have been characterized by innovative approaches to established categories, underpinned by a deep commitment to a “better for you, better for the planet” philosophy.
In the fall of 2010, Alastair launched a new personal care venture, Own Products, in partnership with Physic Ventures and a network of like-minded innovators. The brand is pioneering a new personal care segment: Bio-Activating Skincare.
Alastair was the Founding CEO of Method Products, inc. serving from March of 2001 until August 2008. Method pioneered a new segment in household products – using a unique blend of style and substance to bring green cleaning to the mainstream. Alastair was responsible for driving the company from pre-revenue to $100MM in seven years, earning the company recognition in Inc. magazine as the fastest growing company in California. Under his leadership, Method earned admiration for industry-changing innovation and environmental leadership.
Prior to joining Method, from 1996 to 2000, Alastair was Founder and CEO of Covent Garden, a natural refrigerated soup brand. Before finding his passion as a consumer goods entrepreneur, Alastair served for 5 years as a consultant with Bain & Company, providing strategic advice to clients in the UK, Eastern Europe, and California.
A native Scot, Alastair moved to the Bay Area in 1995. An active member of the Young President’s Organization, he serves on the Board of the Golden Gate Chapter. Alastair earned an MA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University, and an MBA with Distinction from INSEAD Business School. He lives in Marin County and is a devoted father of four young children.
